SPECIALLY DEVELOPED FOR CHILDREN IN YEAR 3 - YEAR 6

Investigate forces and explore the effects of gravity, drag and friction on objects. Examine how the properties of different materials affect how we can use them. Students will make predictions and use fair testing to design and build a range of parachutes and will display their results in a table. Can you design an effective parachute which will have your little parachuter gently falling safely to the ground?

Once you have purchased your ticket please keep your receipt as proof of payment.  Please note that we require minimum numbers to run this session.  If minimum numbers are not met, we will contact you to arrange for rescheduling of your session.  You will be emailed a list of materials to have ready for the session as well as a link to our classroom at least 48hrs before the lesson is scheduled to begin.  Please ensure you have a stable internet connection as well as a webcam and mic (if you want the session to be interactive).

    MATERIALS LIST - please ensure participants have all materials or a suitable alternative

    Cotton (or string or wool) cut into 5x 1m lengths
    Sticky tape
    Scissors
    Lego minifigure or another small object to use as a parachuter
    Precut into 20cmx20xm squares:
    - Tissue
    - Cardboard eg cereal or biscuit box
    - Paper
    - Chux cloth, or any other cloth
    - Plastic bag eg supermarket fruit & veg bag
    Pencil and paper
    Ruler, or preprinted table
    Calculator (optional)
