These incredible beads are UV reactive. Appearing white indoors, when taken into sunlight or held under a UV light, these beads will rapidly turn blue and pink, purple and yellow right before your eyes.
Thread the beads onto a piece of elastic to form a bracelet. It is a great reminder for children that when their bracelet is colourful it means they are being exposed to harmful rays from the sun, and they need to Slip, Slop, Slap, Seek and Slide.
Use these beads to investigate the UV shielding properties of different materials. Place some beads under different fabrics to see if they still change colour. Spread sunscreen or zinc on the container holding the beads, and see if this affects their colour changing. You could even try some natural sunscreen alternatives to see how they fare in blocking UV rays.
With over 100 beads supplied, there are enough to make several bracelets or keyrings (other fixings not provided).
Note: Small parts may cause a choking hazard. Not suitable for children under 3 years.
